Do you like to drink wine? Especially delicious Oregon wine? Do you get excited about the thought of a getaway to wine country – whether it’s for a fun weekend away to a region you’ve always wanted to visit, or just to the closest winery for the afternoon to blow off some steam? Do you know what you like but don’t always know how to explain it? Or maybe you’ve heard your friends talk about the amazing time they had at a tasting event and, even though you used to think that stuff was too bougie for your taste, it’s actually sounding better each time you hear it.
If you can relate to any of this then you are in the right place! Just like you, I think the great PNW has a lot more to offer than craft breweries. When I got invited to go wine tasting for the first time, about 10 years ago, I didn’t quite know what to think. I’m always down for an adventure but the only types of wine I knew were red and white. All the information I found online about different varietals was so confusing I didn’t even know where to begin. So I decided to go armed with an open mind and ended up having a great time.
Over the years, my love of wine has grown – and so has the Oregon wine scene. In fact, there are already so many great websites dedicated to the subject that I again found myself not knowing where to begin. So I’m beginning at the beginning. A little bit of information about local wineries, a little bit about the regions the wine grapes come from (and why that matters), some basic tips on pairing wine with food, and a big focus on the most important thing of all – you can’t learn how to do something by just sitting and reading about it. So get out there, have some fun, and drink some wine!
